Cara Black’s Aimee Leduc Investigations is a long-running mystery series with 23 books published between 1999 and 2024. Every title in the main sequence is a “Murder in/on/at [Paris location]” book, which tells you exactly what you’re getting: murder mysteries set across different neighborhoods of Paris. From the Marais to Montmartre to Pigalle, the series uses the city itself as a recurring character.
The first 21 books follow the “Murder in…” naming pattern, while the final two entries, Three Hours In Paris (2020) and Night Flight to Paris (2023), break from the formula. Black has kept this series going for over two decades with roughly one book per year, which is a solid pace for a mystery series. New readers should start with Murder in the Marais and work forward, since Aimee Leduc’s personal life develops across the books alongside the standalone cases.
