Adam Cesare’s standalone novels make up a large portion of his original horror fiction. Starting with Tribesmen in 2012, these books cover a range of horror subgenres, from the found-footage-inspired cannibal film premise of Tribesmen to the retro creature feature of Video Night to the convention-set horror of The Con Season.
Several of these books show Cesare’s deep affection for B-movies and exploitation cinema. Leprechaun in the Hood: The Musical is exactly what it sounds like, while The Summer Job is a more straightforward slasher story. Mercy House brings religious horror into the mix, and Exponential deals with a rapidly spreading threat. His more recent entries, Influencer (2024) and The Toxic Avenger novelization (2025), show his range expanding into social horror and licensed media.
These standalone novels can be read in any order, though readers new to Cesare might want to start with Video Night or Mercy House for a good sense of his style. Each book is relatively short and moves quickly, reflecting Cesare’s background in horror fiction where lean, fast-paced storytelling is the norm.
