The Mayfair 100 Murder Mystery series is set in London during the First World War, when most able-bodied men are fighting overseas. A team assembled from unexpected sources takes on murder investigations: women from various backgrounds bring different skills, and a wounded officer provides the official authority they need to operate. Murder in Belgravia (2017) sets up the team and their first case.
The series has continued with A Death in Chelsea (2019), The Body in Berkeley Square (2021), The Corpses at Waterloo (2022), A Killing Near Waterloo Station (2023), and The Holborn Murders (2024). Each book uses the wartime setting to explore how the war changed social boundaries, with women taking on roles that would have been unthinkable a few years earlier. The mystery plots use real London locations and period-accurate details.
