Dan Walsh’s A Forever Home series follows rescue dogs as they move from shelters into permanent homes, and the people whose lives change along the way. Each book centers on a different dog. Rescuing Finley (2015) and Finding Riley (2016) established the format, with Of Monsters and Men (2015) arriving between them. Saving Parker (2017) and Keeping Bailey (2021) continued the series.
The books are gentle reads in the inspirational fiction tradition, but Walsh gives each one its own emotional stakes. The human characters are dealing with loneliness, grief, or broken relationships, and the dogs become part of how those problems get worked through. Readers who like animal fiction with a faith element will find this series a good fit.
