Halfdan Loki-Born is a Viking jarl and leader of the Wolves of Odin, a warband renowned and feared across the known world. He returns home around AD 1040 after years of voyaging to find Scandinavia transformed — Christianity has swept through the north, and the old Norse ways that shaped him are dying out.
Halfdan holds to the old gods in an age that is abandoning them. His adventures take him through blood feuds at home, service in the Byzantine emperor’s Varangian Guard in Constantinople, and conflicts that range from the frozen north to the warm waters of the Mediterranean. He leads through force of personality and fighting skill, holding his warband together through loyalty rather than religion.
Across six books, Halfdan navigates a world in transition — caught between the Norse culture that made him and the Christian civilization that is replacing it, fighting for survival and purpose in an era that has less and less room for men like him.
