George, whose real name is Georgina, is one of the five main characters in Enid Blyton’s Famous Five series. She lives with her parents, Uncle Quentin and Aunt Fanny, at Kirrin Cottage near Kirrin Bay, where her cousins Julian, Dick, and Anne spend their holidays.
George is known for her tomboy appearance, often wearing boy’s clothes and having short hair. She is proud, independent, and sometimes quick-tempered, but deeply loyal to her cousins and her dog Timmy. George insists on being treated as an equal and refuses to be looked after or treated differently because she’s a girl.
Throughout the 21 Famous Five books, George proves time and again that she is as brave, clever, and capable as the boys. She is an excellent sailor, knows every inch of Kirrin Island, and has a special bond with Timmy that makes them an unbeatable team.
Perhaps the most famous aspect of George’s character is her fierce love for her dog Timmy. Timmy is never far from her side, and together they lead the way in many of the Five’s adventures. Where George goes, Timmy follows, and together with Julian, Dick, and Anne, they form a team that always solves the mystery.
