David Cavanaugh is the protagonist of Sydney Bauer’s legal thriller series set in Boston. He’s a criminal defense attorney who keeps landing the cases nobody else wants — the ones tangled up in political corruption and conspiracy. Each book puts him in more danger than the last as he fights for his clients both inside the courtroom and out on the streets.
Bauer based the series on her own experience as a crime and legal reporter in Australia, and the courtroom detail reflects that background. Cavanaugh first appeared in Undertow (2007), which won the Sisters in Crime Davitt Award.
