Alafair Tucker is a busy farm mother in Boynton, Oklahoma, during the early twentieth century. She and her husband Shaw are raising ten children, which would be more than enough to keep anyone occupied, but Alafair has a way of noticing things that most people overlook. When someone in the community turns up dead, she cannot help but dig into what happened.
