The Women’s Murder Club is one of James Patterson’s longest-running series, following four San Francisco women, a detective, a medical examiner, a reporter, and a lawyer, who form an unofficial crime-solving group. The series launched with 1st to Die in 2000 and has continued through 26 numbered entries plus BookShots novellas.
The numbering system in the titles (1st to Die through 26 Beauties) has become a trademark of the series. Patterson has worked with multiple co-authors across the run, with Maxine Paetro collaborating on the majority of the later entries. The series has also been adapted for television and remains one of the bestselling mystery franchises in American publishing.
