UNACO (United Nations Anti-Crime Organization) is a fictional agency created by Alistair MacLean. MacLean wrote outlines for a series of movie scripts, and these outlines were then developed into full novels by three different authors. John Denis wrote the first two books, Hostage Tower (1980) and Air Force One Is Down (1981). Alastair MacNeill took over for the bulk of the series, writing Death Train through Code Breaker between 1988 and 1993. Hugh Miller finished the series with Prime Target (1997) and Borrowed Time (1998).
The ten books are published under the “Alistair MacLean’s UNACO” banner, and MacLean is credited as the series creator on each, though he did not write any of the finished novels.
