Tonya Mitchell is an American historical fiction author whose novels are inspired by real events and people. Her debut, A Feigned Madness (2020), tells the story of investigative journalist Nellie Bly and her famous undercover assignment at a New York asylum in 1887.
Her second novel, The Arsenic Eater’s Wife (2024), is based on a true Victorian-era poisoning case. Needle and Bone (2025) is her most recent release. Mitchell’s books combine historical research with fictional narrative to bring forgotten or lesser-known true stories to life.
