Robyn Carr has been writing romance and women’s fiction for over four decades, beginning with the historical romance Chelynne in 1980. Her early novels were set in medieval and Restoration-era England, including The Blue Falcon, The Bellerose Bargain, and By Right of Arms. She later shifted to contemporary settings with books like The House on Olive Street and The Wedding Party.

Her biggest commercial success came with the Virgin River series, which launched in 2007 and grew to 30 books. Set in a fictional small town in the mountains of Northern California, the series follows nurse practitioner Mel Monroe and the community of residents, veterans, and newcomers who make Virgin River their home. The Netflix adaptation of Virgin River brought Carr’s work to a much wider audience. Beyond Virgin River, Carr wrote the nine-book Thunder Point series, the five-book Sullivan’s Crossing series, and the Grace Valley Trilogy, all set in small-town communities where characters find love and rebuild their lives.

Carr’s standalone novels cover both historical and contemporary fiction. Her more recent standalones like The Life She Wants, Sunrise on Half Moon Bay, and The Friendship Club focus on women navigating major life changes. She also published Practical Tips for Writing Popular Fiction in 1992, a non-fiction guide drawn from her own experience.
