Robert Peecher is a former newspaper journalist who spent two decades in print media before turning to fiction. He grew up flipping through his father’s Time Life books about the Old West and the Civil War, and that early interest shaped everything he went on to write. His first novel, Jackson Speed: The Hero of El Teneria, came out in 2012, and he has published steadily ever since.

His work covers a wide range of Western settings and time periods. The Jackson Speed Memoirs follow a cowardly antihero through real historical events from the Mexican-American War to the California Gold Rush. Series like Animas Forks Western, Lodero Westerns, and Two Rivers Station are more traditional frontier stories set in Colorado mining towns, Texas ranches, and New Mexico Territory. He has also written the Barnett Lowery Murder Mysteries, a Southern crime series that departs from the Old West for rural Georgia. Peecher self-publishes through his own Mooncalf Press and keeps a steady release schedule, often putting out several books in a single year.
