Rob Delaney is an American comedian, writer, and actor best known for co-creating and starring in the Channel 4 and Amazon comedy series Catastrophe alongside Sharon Horgan. He is also a prominent presence on social media. His two published books represent very different sides of his public persona: the first, Mother. Wife. Sister. Human. Warrior. Falcon. Yardstick. Turban. Cabbage. (2013), is a comedy essay collection in his distinctive, absurdist online voice; the second, A Heart That Works (2022), is a memoir about the death of his young son Henry from a brain tumour.
A Heart That Works received widespread critical praise and was notable for its directness and lack of sentimentality in dealing with profound grief. The book has been described as one of the more significant accounts of parental loss in recent years.
