Rebecca Alexander is a British author who writes in two very different styles. Her earliest published work is the Jackdaw Hammond trilogy, which began with The Secrets of Life and Death in 2013. Those books are dark fantasy steeped in historical fiction, drawing on the real-life figures of Edward Kelley and John Dee, and mixing alchemy with occult danger. She also writes the Sage Westfield archaeological mystery series, starting with A Baby’s Bones in 2015.

On the other end of the spectrum, Alexander writes warm women’s fiction set in coastal and rural British settings. Her Cottage By The Sea and Island Cottage series share overlapping books and characters, centered on a seaside cottage and the women connected to it. The Island Cottage series includes additional titles not found in the Cottage By The Sea grouping, so readers looking for the full set should check both. Her newest series, Wildflower Secrets, launched in 2025 with Secrets of Foxglove Cottage and continues the same feel of atmospheric, location-driven women’s fiction.
