Pip Ballantine (Philippa Ballantine) is a New Zealand-born author of steampunk and speculative fiction. She now lives in Virginia with her husband and frequent co-author, Tee Morris. Together they created the Ministry of Peculiar Occurrences, a steampunk series set in an alternate Victorian world where a secret government agency investigates supernatural and bizarre events.
The Ministry of Peculiar Occurrences series began with Phoenix Rising in 2011 and grew to include five novels, multiple short story collections, and the Tales from the Archives podcast, which won a 2014 Parsec Award. Ballantine and Morris also write the Verity Fitzroy and the Ministry Seven series, a young adult spinoff set in the same universe. Outside her collaborative work, Ballantine has published solo short fiction exploring steampunk and fantasy themes, often drawing on her New Zealand heritage.
