Peter Crouch is a former professional footballer who played for clubs including Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, and Stoke City, as well as earning 42 caps for England. Since retiring from football, he has become known for his entertaining writing and broadcasting work. His first book, Walking Tall: My Story (2007), was a more traditional autobiography covering his career up to that point.
His later books took a different approach. How to Be a Footballer (2018) and its sequel I, Robot (2019) are packed with funny behind-the-scenes stories about the sport, covering everything from superstitions and initiation rituals to the strange habits of teammates. How to Be an Ex-Footballer (2023) continues the humor as Crouch writes about adjusting to life after retirement. His books have been popular with football fans and general readers alike.
