Paul Van Herck (1938-1989) was a Belgian author who wrote science fiction in Dutch. His best-known novel, Where Were You Last Pluterday? (1968), is a satirical take on time travel and bureaucracy that earned him recognition in European science fiction circles. The book was translated into multiple languages and remains a cult favorite among fans of absurdist SF.
His second novel, Caroline oh Caroline (1973), continued in a similar vein of dark humor and speculative fiction. Van Herck’s output was small but distinctive, and his work is often cited alongside other Flemish and Dutch-language science fiction writers.
