The Paul Madriani series by Steve Martini follows a defense attorney who takes on cases that pull him into dangerous territory beyond the courtroom. Compelling Evidence (1992) introduced Madriani and established the series’ formula of legal procedure mixed with thriller pacing.
The series grew to sixteen novels, from Prime Witness (1993) and Undue Influence (1994) through The Judge (1996), The Attorney (2000), and Double Tap (2005). Later entries like Shadow of Power (2008), Guardian of Lies (2009), and Blood Flag (2016) kept Madriani working cases with national and international stakes. Martini also published the short story Surfing the Panther (2015).
