Noah Boyd is the pen name of Paul Lindsay, a retired FBI special agent who turned his decades of law enforcement experience into a series of crime thrillers. His earlier books, published under his real name, make up the Novels of the FBI series, starting with Witness to the Truth (1992). These novels draw heavily on Lindsay’s knowledge of FBI procedures, investigations, and internal politics.
Under the Noah Boyd name, Lindsay wrote the Steve Vail series, starting with The Bricklayer (2009). Steve Vail is a former FBI agent who left the Bureau but gets pulled back in to solve cases too complex for the regular agents. Agent X (2011) continued Vail’s story. The books are known for their puzzle-like plotting, where Vail must work through elaborate challenges set by the criminals. Lindsay’s FBI background gives the stories an authenticity that sets them apart from typical thriller fiction.
