Nikki Marmery is a UK-based author who studied history at the University of Nottingham and creative writing at the Faber Academy. She spent over fifteen years as a financial journalist covering foreign exchange and credit derivatives before leaving the industry after the 2008 crisis to focus on writing.

Her debut novel, On Wilder Seas (2020), tells the story of Maria, an enslaved African woman who was the only female aboard Drake’s Golden Hind during its circumnavigation of the globe. Lilith (2023) retells the Hebrew myth of Adam’s first wife, following her across ancient Sumer, the court of Queen Jezebel, and first-century Judea. Both novels center on women written out of historical and religious records.
