Nicola Rayner is a British writer whose novels sit at the intersection of literary fiction and psychological suspense. Her debut, The Girl Before You, introduced readers to her skill at building dread through ordinary-seeming relationships and slowly revealed secrets. You and Me, also published in 2020, continued in this vein with a story about friendship, obsession, and the lies people tell those closest to them.
Her 2024 novel The Paris Dancer marked a shift in setting, moving from contemporary Britain to the world of Parisian dance. Before her novels, Rayner published the short work Woman; Nonromantic in 2016. Across all her writing, she returns to questions of trust, identity, and the gap between how people present themselves and who they actually are.
