Natasha Lester has been writing historical fiction since her debut, What Is Left Over, After, in 2010. Her novels often focus on women working in fashion, journalism, or espionage during wartime, with Paris as a recurring backdrop. Books like The Paris Seamstress, The Paris Orphan, and The Paris Secret established her as one of Australia’s most popular historical fiction writers, and she has built a large international readership.
Many of Lester’s stories use dual timelines, splitting the narrative between a present-day character uncovering family secrets and a wartime ancestor whose experiences come to light. The Three Lives of Alix St. Pierre follows a woman navigating postwar Parisian fashion, while The Disappearance of Astrid Bricard moves between 1970s New York and the modern fashion industry. Her 2021 novel, The Riviera House, is set along the French coast during the Nazi occupation.
Lester holds an MBA and a Master of Creative Arts, and she previously worked in marketing and communications before becoming a full-time novelist. She lives in Perth, Western Australia.
