Miranda Rijks is a British author who writes psychological thrillers from her home in West Sussex, England. Before turning to fiction, she had a career in business, spending over twenty years setting up, running, and selling companies in retail and leisure. She also studied handwriting analysis and wrote two non-fiction books: the biography The Eccentric Entrepreneur, published by The History Press, and the self-help book How Compatible Are You?, published by Bloomsbury. She later earned a master’s degree in writing with a first-class result.
In 2015, Rijks was diagnosed with Ewing’s sarcoma, a rare bone cancer in her right femur. She went through eleven rounds of chemotherapy and had her femur removed and replaced. After recovering, she wrote Don’t Call Me Brave (2018), a novel loosely based on her experience that explores the realities of cancer treatment. That same year she published her first psychological thriller, I Want You Gone, about an estate agent who discovers her own death announcement in a newspaper.
Since then, Rijks has published more than 25 psychological thrillers, with the majority released through Inkubator Books. Many of her novels have reached number one on Amazon bestseller lists. Her books typically focus on family dynamics, domestic tension, and characters whose ordinary lives unravel through deception and betrayal. She is a member of The Society of Authors and The Crime Writers’ Association.
