Miles Burton was a pen name used by Cecil John Charles Street, who also wrote as John Rhode. Under the Burton name, Street published over 60 mystery novels between 1926 and 1960, most of them featuring the amateur detective Desmond Merrion. He was one of the most prolific authors of the British Golden Age of detective fiction.
Street’s Miles Burton novels are classic puzzle mysteries in the tradition of the Detection Club, of which he was a member. After falling out of print for decades, many of his books have been reissued in recent years, introducing his work to a new generation of mystery readers.
