Michael Hjorth is a Swedish author, screenwriter, and film producer. Born in 1963 in Visby, he is one of Sweden’s most prominent producers and co-founded the production company Tre vänner. He has written screenplays for several Henning Mankell Wallander films.

Together with Hans Rosenfeldt (creator of The Bridge), Hjorth writes the Sebastian Bergman crime series, which has sold over 7 million copies worldwide. The books follow a troubled criminal profiler who lost his family in the 2004 tsunami and struggles with personal demons while solving complex cases.
