Meljean Brook is an American romance author who has been writing since the early 2000s. She first gained attention with The Demon’s Daughter in 2004, the start of her Tale of the Demon World series (sometimes called The Guardians). That long-running series features fallen angels, demons, and shapeshifters across fifteen books published between 2004 and 2022.
Brook became widely known for The Iron Seas, a steampunk romance series set in an alternate version of the 19th century. In this world, the Mongol Empire conquered much of Europe and Asia using steam-powered war machines, and the Horde controlled populations through nanotech-like “bugs.” The Iron Duke (2010) kicked off the series, and The Kraken King (2014) was released as an eight-part serial. She also wrote A Gathering of Dragons, a fantasy romance series beginning with The Beast of Blackmoor (2014) and continuing with A Heart of Blood and Ashes (2020).
Beyond her own series, Brook has contributed novellas and short stories to several multi-author anthologies, including Must Love Hellhounds, Burning Up, Angels of Darkness, and Night Shift.
