Meesha Mink is the urban fiction pen name of national bestselling author Niobia Bryant. Born and raised in Newark, New Jersey, Bryant has written over fifty books across multiple genres. As Meesha Mink, she focuses on gritty street fiction set in urban neighborhoods, with stories about women fighting to survive and get ahead in tough circumstances.
Her breakout work as Meesha Mink was the Bentley Manor trilogy, co-written with De’nesha Diamond. Starting with Desperate Hoodwives in 2008, the series follows four women in an Atlanta housing project looking for a way out. Essence magazine recommended the trilogy, and it helped establish Mink as a major name in street lit. She followed that with the Real Wifeys series, beginning with On the Grind in 2011, which landed on Black Expressions’ Best Books list alongside her romance work.
Mink’s standalone novels, Kiss the Ring and All Hail the Queen, center on Naeema “Queen” Cole, a character compared to a modern-day Foxy Brown. Kiss the Ring was named one of Library Journal’s Best Books. Her writing is fast-paced, unflinching, and rooted in the realities of inner-city life.
