Matthew Jobin is an anthropologist turned novelist whose Nethergrim trilogy was published by Philomel, a Penguin Random House imprint. The first book came out in 2014 and was named a Best Book for Teens by the New York Public Library. It was also a finalist for the 2015 Monica Hughes Science Fiction and Fantasy Award.
The series follows three young characters named Edmund, Katherine, and Tom as they confront a mysterious evil in a medieval setting. Reviewers have praised Jobin for avoiding common fantasy cliches and for creating a believably dark world with a fresh take on magic.
