Marc Levy published his first novel, Et si c’etait vrai (If Only It Were True), in 2000 after his sister encouraged him to submit the manuscript. Steven Spielberg’s production company acquired the film rights before the book was even published, and the 2005 movie adaptation starred Reese Witherspoon and Mark Ruffalo. That debut launched a career that has produced more than twenty novels, making Levy the most widely read French author in the world with over 50 million copies sold.
Levy’s books tend toward romantic and emotionally driven stories, often with a touch of the fantastical. His standalone novels range from wartime drama (The Children of Freedom) to playful romantic comedy (P.S. from Paris) to family secrets (The Last of the Stanfields). He writes primarily in French, with many of his novels translated into English and dozens of other languages. Readers looking for warm, character-focused stories with a French literary sensibility will find his catalog well worth exploring.
