Maggie Hartley is a British foster carer who has looked after more than 300 children during her career. She began writing about her experiences to share the real stories of the children in the care system, and her books have made her a Sunday Times bestselling author.
Her memoirs cover a wide range of fostering situations, from children escaping abuse and neglect to teenagers on remand and young refugees. Each book tells the story of a specific child or group of siblings, with names and details changed to protect their identities. Hartley has published over twenty-five books, beginning with Tiny Prisoners in 2016.
