Louise Candlish has been writing psychological thrillers and domestic suspense novels since 2004, with twenty books published over more than two decades. Her early novels leaned toward women’s fiction and relationship drama, but starting around The Sudden Departure of the Frasers (2015), her work shifted toward darker, more suspenseful territory. Our House (2018) was the breakthrough that brought her wide recognition; its story of a couple’s home being stolen through a real estate scam struck a nerve with readers and was adapted for television by ITV.
Since Our House, Candlish has continued to write thrillers rooted in ordinary domestic settings, including Those People, The Other Passenger, and The Heights. Her books tend to focus on neighbors, couples, and communities where trust breaks down, and she is skilled at turning everyday situations into sources of dread. With twenty novels and counting, she is one of the most prolific and consistent voices in British domestic suspense.
