Lisa Bird-Wilson is a Cree-Metis writer from Saskatchewan. Her short story collection Just Pretending (2013) explores the lives of Indigenous people affected by adoption, foster care, and displacement. Probably Ruby (2020), her first novel, follows an Indigenous woman adopted as an infant as she searches for connection and identity.
Bird-Wilson also published The Red Files (2016), a collection of poetry that addresses the legacy of residential schools. Her work draws on both personal and community history to examine what it means to belong.
