Lev Grossman worked as the book critic and lead technology writer for Time magazine for over a decade before his fiction career took off. His debut novel Warp came out in 1997, but it was The Magicians in 2009 that brought him wide recognition. The book took the idea of a Narnia-like fantasy world and filtered it through an adult, often cynical lens, earning comparisons to both C.S. Lewis and Bret Easton Ellis.
After completing The Magicians trilogy with The Magician King (2011) and The Magician’s Land (2014), Grossman turned to Arthurian legend with The Bright Sword (2024). He has also written children’s books, including The Silver Arrow series, and contributed short fiction to various anthologies. His novella The Map of Tiny Perfect Things was adapted into an Amazon Prime film in 2021.
