Laurie Faria Stolarz grew up in Salem, Massachusetts — the most famous address in American witch history — and has an MFA in Creative Writing from Emerson College. Her debut novel Blue is for Nightmares (2003) drew on that background without becoming a Salem novel, instead following a teenage Wiccan at boarding school whose dreams are more than dreams.

The Blue is for Nightmares series ran to four main novels and sold over 500,000 copies. Her follow-up series, the Deadly Little series (collected as Touch), found a similar audience with a story about a girl who can sense death through touch. She has also written the Dark House duology, a horror series, and several well-regarded standalone thrillers including Jane Anonymous (2020) and The Last Secret You’ll Ever Keep (2021).

With over a million books sold and translations into thirty languages, Stolarz has sustained a career in YA fiction across two decades. Readers new to her work should start with Blue is for Nightmares and the Deadly Little Secret for the two series that built her following.
