The Lambert and Hook series by J.M. Gregson is a 29-book British police procedural that ran from 1989 to 2016. The books follow Superintendent John Lambert and his partner Sergeant Bert Hook as they investigate crimes across the English countryside, particularly in and around the West Country.
Gregson was a prolific mystery author who built one of the longer-running detective partnerships in British crime fiction. The series covers a wide range of settings, from golf courses (Murder at the Nineteenth, A Good Walk Spoiled) to academic institutions (An Academic Death) and rural communities. The final book, Final Act, was published in 2016.
