Kristen Britain published her debut novel, Green Rider, in 1998, and has been building on that world ever since. The series follows Karigan G’ladheon, a young woman who stumbles into the role of a Green Rider, a royal messenger with magical abilities, and becomes entangled in the defense of the kingdom of Sacoridia against an ancient, returning evil. Ten books in, the series remains active, with Falling in a Sea of Stars arriving in 2025.
The Green Rider books are known for their patient world-building and the way the stakes have grown across nearly three decades of publication. Britain takes her time between releases, with gaps of several years between some volumes, but the fanbase has remained loyal. The series has expanded from a fairly straightforward quest story into a large-scale epic with time travel, dimensional rifts, and conflicts spanning centuries.
