Kenneth Bulmer was one of the most prolific British science fiction and fantasy writers of the 20th century. Active from the early 1950s until his death in 2005, he published well over a hundred novels under his own name and various pen names. His output covered science fiction, sword-and-sorcery fantasy, historical adventure, and media tie-in fiction.

Bulmer is best remembered for the Dray Prescot series, a sprawling planetary romance saga written under the pen name Alan Burt Akers. The fifty-two-book series follows an Earthman transported to the planet Kregen beneath the double suns of Antares. He also wrote the Keys to the Dimensions series, the Sea Wolf naval adventures, the Wolfshead Viking novels, and novelizations for the British TV series The Professionals. His sheer volume of work is remarkable even by the standards of his era’s most productive genre writers.
