Kate Moore wrote the Felix series of books about the real-life station cat at Huddersfield in West Yorkshire, England. Felix was adopted as a kitten by the railway staff in 2011 and quickly became a local celebrity, greeting passengers and patrolling the platforms. Her popularity grew so large that she gained hundreds of thousands of followers on social media and was given the official job title of Senior Pest Controller.
Felix the Railway Cat, published in 2017, tells the full story of how a small kitten became one of the most famous cats in Britain. The book was a bestseller, and Moore followed it with Full Steam Ahead, Felix in 2019, which continues the story of the cat’s life at the station. A Dutch edition, Felix de stationskat, was also published in 2017. The books are warm, feel-good reads that will appeal to anyone who loves cats or is charmed by the idea of a railway station with its own resident feline.
