Kate Beaton is a Canadian cartoonist born in 1983, best known for creating the webcomic Hark! A Vagrant, which ran from 2007 to 2018. The comic features irreverent, funny takes on historical figures, literary characters, and pop culture, and the collected editions became New York Times bestsellers.
In 2022, Beaton published Ducks: Two Years in the Oil Sands, a graphic memoir about her time working in the oil sands of Fort McMurray, Alberta.
