Justin Scott has published 78 books over a career that stretches from 1973 to 2025, making him one of the more prolific thriller and mystery writers of his generation. His earliest standalone novels from the 1970s and 1980s include nautical and international thrillers like The Shipkiller, Normandie Triangle, and The Widow of Desire, while the Ben Abbott Mysteries (1994-2007) brought a more domestic mystery flavor with five books set in a small-town real estate world.

Scott’s collaboration with Clive Cussler on the Isaac Bell Adventures is a major part of his output. That series, set in the early twentieth century, runs to more than a dozen entries and includes The Chase, The Spy, The Assassin, The Gangster, and the most recent, The Iron Storm (2025). He also continued Robert Ludlum’s Paul Janson character across four novels. Between the franchise work, his own series, and a large standalone catalog that ranges from sea adventures to historical fiction, Scott’s bibliography covers a lot of ground. The anthology contributions from the late 1990s onward round out a career that has stayed active for over fifty years.
