Josh Hayes is a military science fiction author, retired Air Force veteran, and former police officer. After six years in the Air Force, he served with the Wichita Police Department in roles ranging from patrol to the bomb squad. He channels that real-world experience into stories about soldiers, colonists, and fighters facing impossible odds in distant star systems.
Hayes broke onto the scene with his Valor trilogy, beginning with Edge of Valor in 2019, which was a finalist for the Dragon Award for Best Military Science Fiction or Fantasy Novel. He co-wrote the Terra Nova Chronicles with Richard Fox, a four-book series about humanity’s struggle to establish a colony on an alien world. He has also contributed several entries to the Galaxy’s Edge: Order of the Centurion shared universe, including Stryker’s War and Through the Nether.
Outside of fiction, Hayes is the creator and president of Keystroke Medium, a YouTube show and podcast focused on the craft of writing. His bibliography also includes the Tranquility series (co-written with Devon C. Ford), the Second Star series, and contributions to the New Heidegger Research academic book series. He continues to write stories where tactical know-how matters as much as any piece of futuristic technology.
