Joseph Skibell is an American novelist whose fiction often draws on Jewish history, folklore, and mysticism. His debut A Blessing on the Moon (1997) reimagines the Holocaust through magical realism, following a murdered man who rises from a mass grave. The English Disease (2003) and A Curable Romantic (2010) continued in the same vein of literary fiction rooted in Jewish experience.
Skibell has also written non-fiction, including My Father’s Guitar and Other Imaginary Things (2015) and Six Memos from the Last Millennium (2016). He teaches creative writing at Emory University.
