Joanna Miller is a British writer born and raised in Cambridge. She studied English at Oxford University and later returned to train as a teacher. After spending a decade in education, she started an award-winning poetry gift business and wrote thousands of commissioned poems, some of which were filmed by the BBC. She recently went back to Oxford to study for a diploma in creative writing and has worked as a writer in residence at Gladstone’s Library.

Miller’s debut novel, The Eights, was published in 2025 by Fig Tree (Penguin) in the UK and G.P. Putnam’s Sons in the US. The book is set at Oxford in 1920 and follows four women who are among the first female students admitted to the university.
