JoAnna Carl is the pen name of Eve K. Sandstrom, a mystery writer who spent over 25 years working in newspapers as a reporter, columnist, and editor before turning to fiction full-time. A graduate of the University of Oklahoma’s journalism and creative writing programs, she is also a member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma.
Her best-known work is the Chocoholic Mystery series, which began in 2002 with The Chocolate Cat Caper and grew to 19 books by 2021. Set in the fictional town of Warner Pier, Michigan, the books follow Lee McKinney, who works at her aunt’s luxury chocolate shop and keeps stumbling into murder investigations. Before the Chocoholic series, Sandstrom published mysteries under her real name, including the Sam and Nicky Titus series and the Nell Matthews books.
