Jennifer Robson was born in Peterborough, Ontario, in 1970. She studied French literature and modern history at King’s College at the University of Western Ontario before attending St Antony’s College, Oxford, as a Commonwealth Scholar. She earned her doctorate in British economic and social history and later worked as a copywriter and editor in magazine and newspaper publishing. Before turning to fiction, she served as an official guide at the Canadian National War Memorial at Vimy Ridge in France.
Her debut novel, Somewhere in France, came out in 2013 and introduced readers to her trademark blend of wartime romance and period detail. Three more novels followed in the Great War series, all set during or just after World War I. She shifted to World War II with Goodnight from London and The Gown, the latter of which tells the story of the women who embroidered Princess Elizabeth’s wedding dress in 1947. Her standalone novels include Our Darkest Night, about a Jewish woman hiding in rural Italy during the war, and The Coronation Year, set in London during the lead-up to Queen Elizabeth’s coronation in 1953.
