Jane Roberts (1929-1984) was an American author and poet who became one of the most influential figures in the New Age movement. In 1963, Roberts and her husband Robert Butts began experimenting with a Ouija board, and she claimed to receive messages from an entity who identified himself as Seth. For the next 21 years, Roberts conducted regular channeling sessions that her husband transcribed.

The resulting books, including Seth Speaks (1972) and The Nature of Personal Reality (1974), explore consciousness, the nature of reality, and personal growth. These works have been translated into numerous languages and remain widely read. Roberts also wrote the Oversoul Seven trilogy, a series of novels that dramatize Seth’s ideas through fiction.

Beyond the Seth material, Roberts published poetry, fiction, and philosophical works under her own name. Her novel The Rebellers appeared in 1963, and her poetry collections include Dialogues of the Soul and Mortal Self in Time. The Early Sessions and Personal Sessions volumes, published posthumously, contain transcripts from her channeling sessions spanning two decades.
