Jane Casey is an Irish-born crime writer who grew up in Dublin before studying English at Oxford and Anglo-Irish literature at Trinity College Dublin. She worked in children’s book publishing for nine years before turning to writing her own fiction. Being married to a criminal barrister has given her direct insight into police procedure, courtroom dynamics, and the realities of criminal investigations.
Her best-known work is the Maeve Kerrigan series, which follows a female detective constable on London’s murder investigation team. Starting with The Burning (2010), the series has grown to fifteen books and earned Casey the Mary Higgins Clark Award and Irish Crime Novel of the Year. She has also written the Jess Tennant young adult mystery trilogy and several standalone thrillers, including The Killing Kind (2021) and The Outsider (2023).
