Jane Buckley is a Northern Irish author who spent her career in finance before turning to fiction. She grew up in Derry/Londonderry and drew on her experience of the city’s turbulent past to write the Stones Corner tetralogy, a four-book series covering life during the Troubles from the early 1970s through to the Good Friday Agreement in 1998.
Her writing combines political history with personal drama. The Stones Corner books follow two characters from opposite sides of the social divide as they navigate violence, love, and survival in a city under sustained conflict. Buckley’s background gives the series a ground-level perspective that distinguishes it from more distant historical treatments of the period.
The series ran from 2021 to 2023 with all four volumes — Turmoil, Darkness, Light, and Hope — published in close succession, tracing the arc of the Troubles from their most intense years to the eventual peace settlement.
