Jade Adia is a Los Angeles-born author who writes young adult fiction about Black nerds, anti-capitalism, and home. She holds a degree in Ethnicity, Race & Migration from Yale and studied Critical Race Studies at UCLA Law. Her debut novel, There Goes the Neighborhood (2023), follows three South L.A. teens fighting gentrification in their neighborhood and won the 2024 Coretta Scott King - John Steptoe New Talent Award.
Her second novel, Our Shouts Echo (2024), follows a sixteen-year-old L.A. transplant who finds unexpected summer romance through a hiking group. Both books are published by Freeform/Disney-Hyperion and are grounded in specific places and communities, exploring how race, class, and proximity shape the way young people experience their world.
